Reading and Learning Through Service

Highlighted Skill Areas - Imagination and Perspective
-Developing character and reading skill at once
-Immersion in books about service, selflessness and concern for others
-Emphasis on what we and our literacy skills can do to improve the world
-Fostering an imagination and a heart geared towards generosity of spirit
-Arts, crafts and games all connected with reading and grade-level standards
-Reader's theater for fun and practice (Kids LOVE reader's theater!)
-Personalized, individual and small group instruction
-Respectful staff with high expectations and effective technique
-At least two hours of direct reading, writing and spelling instruction daily
-Introduction to age- and developmentally-appropriate text
-Opportunities to earn incentive rewards, including new books, for effort and progress
-Morning and afternoon snack provided daily AND a camp t-shirt for each two-week session attended
-The chance to get to know some great friends...people and books!
