COME TO CAMP WITH US! Enjoy the best pricing and the most themes in the ONLY literacy-building summer day camp that is just right for every kind of reader!
When and Where: Choose one week, two weeks or more! We strongly suggest two weeks or more to allow time for assessment and implementation of the optimal program for your child. All campers are assessed at the start of camp, but only those who attend for at least two weeks receive a full assessment report afterwards.
For 2018, HAPPY Reading is hosting camps in central Virginia for a total of 8 weeks. ALL camps are open for school-aged children who are at least 4 but younger than 13 years old…except Middle School Only camps, which are for rising 6th through 8th grade students who are 14 or younger. Decide which locations, dates and special themes appeal most to you. All camps are full-day, running from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.
NEW THIS YEAR: OUR PRICING IS LOWER!!! To make camp more affordable for more families, we have a new pricing guide! Now, you get the same incredible learning experiences and camp fun at a price that can’t be beat! We still have discounts for siblings and groups registering together. And the longer you attend, the smaller the price! For an individual camper attending for 4 weeks or more, the tuition is just over $100 per week!
There are more themes and locations than ever! At registration, you will be asked to select a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice for the one theme your camper will experience during that session. All campers will receive their 1st choice, unless we discuss an alternative with you in advance of the start of camp. As in the past, campers will go swimming 2-3 days each week and will enjoy at least one field trip during each two-week camp. To cover transportation and admission fees, there will be a $25 OUT AND ABOUT FEE per session, per camper ($15 for campers attending only one week). The OUT AND ABOUT fee will be due on the first day of camp for all campers, including those attending on scholarship.
Middle School Only camps are designed to address the literacy needs of maturing adolescents while providing them with developmentally-appropriate themes and activities. In addition, some camps may offer special sections for our youngest learners, apart from older campers. These K-1 Zones will vary by location and enrollment.

What could be better? Campers will strengthen essential reading skills, dive in to compelling books and stories... and have lots of fun with new friends... while moving, playing, singing, creating... and learning about the things they love best. Some famous characters may stop by for visits and other special guests will entertain us and educate. Campers will not only improve their literacy skills and grow
in confidence, but also they will have the opportunity to earn incentive prizes for their hard work... prizes that include new books to own!
