2018 Summer Day Camps that Focus on Reading

Reading and Yarn Creations (Middle School Only, Rising 6th through 8th)Reading and Yarn Arts (NEW!!!)
(Reading and Yarn Creations is the middle school variation on this theme.)
(Reading and Sewing is a similar, middle school theme, which extends from cross-stitch to machines.)
Highlighted Skill Areas - Focus and Fluency
-Introduction to basics of crochet and knitting
-String games that correlate with literacy concepts
-Enhanced appreciation of mindfulness and focus in the yarn arts
-Application of yarn techniques as they relate to literacy practices
-Appreciation of the repetition that leads to mastery—stitching our way to fluency
-Activities and presentations connected with reading and grade-level standards
-Reader's theater for fun and practice (They’ll want to write home about it!)
-Personalized, individual and small group instruction
-Respectful staff with high expectations and effective technique
-At least two hours of direct reading, writing and spelling instruction daily
-Introduction to age- and developmentally-appropriate text
-Opportunities to earn incentive rewards, including new books, for effort and progress
-Morning and afternoon snack provided daily AND a camp t-shirt for each camp attended
-The chance to get to know some great friends...people and books!
